Warren and I spoke with oncology today to start considering all options for Jackson's treatment. Regardless of where we go, it seems the treatment will be the same; 6 weeks of radiation to his brain and spine, 3-4 week break, then 4-6 months of low dose chemo. We may have the ability to get on a study at St.Jude, but he would receive 4 months of high dose chemo, completely killing his immune system and then a stem cell transplant to bring back his immune system. This is experimental and has not yet been proven to work any better than the standard protocol for Jack's cancer. This seems a bit scary to us knowing the reaction his kidneys had with CT contrast. It seems that the doctors believe Jack's cancer is of average risk that can be effectively treated with radiation and chemo while being able to be at home between treatments. Warren and I will take him to UCSF for a second opinion with a brain tumor specialist just to make sure we are all on the same page.

Jackson is still doing better day by day. He is sedated slightly but still responds sometimes when we talk to him. The breathing tube may possibly come out tomorrow but we will have to wait and see.
