Hi Everyone,
Jackson has been doing fairly well. He has had a bit of nausea the last few days. His appetite has been good, but sometimes his tummy just gets upset for some reason. He had his blood work done yesterday morning, and come to find out, his platelets were at 13,000. Now normal platelet counts are in the 200,000 range, so this means that Jackson is very susceptible to bleeding problems if he gets injured. Jackson needed a platelet transfusion yesterday. His NP, Cindy, was able to contact Dr. Thompson, Jackson's pediatrician, and he set up a transfusion for us at Sierra Vista. Thank goodness we didn't have to travel to San Francisco. Jackson tolerated the transfusion very well, although it threw a wrench in our afternoon schedule, including Jackson's nap. Speaking of wrenches, as I was loading Hayden into the car yesterday afternoon while trying to get Jackson to Sierra Vista, I noticed water running down our driveway. It was coming from the garage. As always, with impeccable timing, our water heater blew out and water was flooding out the garage. So I called Warren and told him he needed to come home and check out the situation because I was heading out the door. He only works a few miles down the road, so he was able to get there ASAP after I turned off the water valve and left for our afternoon adventure. So last night we all showered in the trailer and today at work, Warren got us a new water heater. Hot showers for everyone in our house tonight!
Well, Jackson has more blood work to be done on Thursday. His white counts are super low right now, but by Thursday they should be back up in the safe range. Hopefully his platelets will have recovered quite a bit also. I will update again in a couple of days.
