Hello Everyone,
I am so sorry I have not updated in a few weeks. My plan was to update every week on Jack's progress, but time flies, and a week turns into a month when you're chasing three kids!
Jackson had his first, every three month MRI, on Tuesday. He did well for all of his medical appointments on Tuesday. First it was a hearing test and he has shown no hearing damage from radiation or vincristine ( the weekly chemo during radiation). Next, he had his MRI which he went to sleep for. They did his blood draws, port flushes, spinal tap, and IV after they put him out with gas, so it was pain free! He woke up very grumpy, but what else is new! His MRI came back clean from what the oncologist could see, she said she would be surprised if the radiologist saw anything. The results from the spinal tap will be back in a couple of days. His previous spinal taps have all been clean, so chances are this one will be too.
Jackson will start chemotherapy on Monday December 14th sometime during that day. We have not been told when he will be admitted that day so we will drive up on Sunday and stay at family house. He will be in the hospital for 3-4 days and they will give him his infusions during that time and hydrate him very well to prevent kidney and bladder damage. On the 8th day of the cycle, December 21, he will be seen in the clinic for a dose of vincristine and blood work. If we have an appointment early that day and everything goes well, we will drive home that afternoon.
Jackson has been doing very well at home. He is getting around really well on his own and he is eating normally. He has even gained a couple pounds! We are all anxious for a quiet Christmas at home!
