Jackson's Last Benefit BBQ Planned for Saturday

Warren and I are so grateful for all of the support we have received from our family, our friends, and our community. Saturday October 3rd will be the last BBQ fundraiser for a while. Without every ones help Warren and I would not have been able to be with our son together during Jackson's hospitalization. We have been given a sound foundation to work from for a while. I will be able to be with Jackson at home during his chemo treatments and outpatient rehab. We are truly thankful for every ones help no matter what they gave, whether it be money, hard work during fundraisers, or just praying for our son. We are so blessed. Please keep praying for Jackson fore he has a long road ahead of him still.

On to Jackson: he is doing so well these days with radiation and rehab. He does his radiation every morning during the week without any fuss or fit. He just lays still, lets them set up, and is glad when it is over for the morning. The techs here say that he is exceptional for a child his age. The only side effect he seems to have is the tiredness afterwards, therefore he takes a nap every afternoon. Sometimes I even lay down with him :). He is also doing exceptionally well in rehab also. They finally figured out ( after we gave them multiple clues) that he likes tools and projects. So after they gave him a screwdriver and he took the roof off of the dollhouse, they found some wood working projects for him. They incorporate physical therapy by making him stand up, reach, and turn to get things all the while he is screwing screws in wood and creating something fun.

Jackson is now walking pretty well with assistance and today before radiation, he took 3-4 steps between Warren and I without help. He doesn't have very good balance at all, so this is going to be some work for him. I asked the physical therapist today if it is OK if I bring him a bike or a tricycle to ride on. They are checking but they seem to think it might be OK if it is limited to the rehab room.

We will continue to keep everyone posted on Jackson's progress. Thank you again to everyone!

  2. Hi Nicee.. I have been checking the site everyday for news, I am so glad to hear the progress Jackie is making. The girls check the site with me everynite so we can include him in our prayers. Laurie's c-section is scheduled for Friday, so we should have a BIG baby by Friday afternoon. I am sorry I could not get up there to visit, but I am there in spirit at least. Love to you all, from Aunt Nancy

  3. Dear Warren & Jenise~I am the Red Cross Club advisor for Delta High School. This year my club is getting involved with raising funds for St. Jude's. Several students saw a banner for Jackson's BBQ and wanted to know if our club could do anything to help your family with anything for Jackson, you and your husband or your girls. As you know cancer doesn't just affect the individual it affects the family too. Please contact me at 937-6356 x. 1617 ask for Tami. We would be honored to help.
