Well, here we are now at UCSF! The trip up here was uneventful, but the hospital transition was not what we expected. For some reason the hospital here wasn't as well prepared as we thought they were going to be so it took a while to get all of Jacks meds to him. He was funny when he had enough because he took his blanket and completely covered himself to get away from the situation. We had to share a room with two others last night which was completely unexpected. We always had our own room at Children's in Madera so that was a shocker. Today they moved us up one more floor to the oncology hematology floor. We have to share a room with a teenager that is doing chemo, so hopefully it will be much more peaceful here.
We have been meeting all day with different parts of the multi disciplinary team that is covering all aspects of Jacks well being. He will be having an angiogram this week to hopefully embolize the tumor and then just before his surgery they will get another MRI. They have really nice technology that they can use a probe while doing surgery that will simultaneously zoom in on the exact location on the MRI as they will be proceeding with the tumor resection. This obviously is a safe way to know where they are at and what to expect as far as bleeding during surgery. They are talking about surgery probably early next week. They are checking every aspect of his health before putting his body under such stress with the surgery. They want to "measure twice and cut once". We are very happy with the way they would like to proceed because they are going to do everything they can to optimize the success of the surgery while minimizing the harm to our precious little Jackson.
