Jackie had a better day today!
He was taken off dialysis and so far is producing urine on his own. They're watching his urine and blood levels closely to make sure the kidneys continue to function well. His kidneys are still not at 100%, but he is headed in the right direction. Additionally, they reduced his sedation meds to assess his responses and he reacted well with movement of his arms and legs. The movements allowed for his body to stretch… and I’m sure he could use a good stretch by now, but he had to go back on the meds again, just to keep him still for his healing time. Late this afternoon he received a CT scan to check the swelling of his brain and...Great News, the swelling has begun to go down.
The plan for tomorrow is to remove him from the sedation drugs in the morning and allow him to wake up as much as possible until he begins to fight his breathing tube. At that time they will sedate him again, however during the time period that he is awake, the Doctors will measure his cranial pressure. If he responds well and his cranial pressure does not increase, they will begin a day to day process of removing him from the medical support devices.
Big day tomorrow! Let’s all hope that Jackie will respond well and keep staying strong.
